Got a cool office? Show it off!

It’s usually one of the first questions you hear when meeting someone new: “Where do you work?”

It’s asked with a heavy emphasis on the last word. What is your work, your company, your profession, your imagined income level? How much respect do I think you deserve is actually a better way to phrase that question.

But what about the first word? “Where” seems much more interesting. How do you personalize your workspace? What does it look like?

We decided the best way to get a peek into your world is through social media.

Until July 1st, we’re running a workspace photo contest called #MyWorkspace in our search for the coolest places to work.

While some of us are in finance, some in tech, and a very select few are out there making a living selling bespoke hats for peoples’ pet lizards (FYI, there is literally a market for anything out there); what binds us all together across all industries is that we work somewhere, at a desk, in a designated workspace. While we all have all sorts of important, complex jobs, there is a place and a set of tools and most likely a desk where the magic happens.

You’re probably there every day doing serious, meaningful activity. For a lot of us, it’s not just a job, it’s a serious commitment and maybe a calling. Similarly, the place where we work isn’t just a place, but in a sense a shrine for your talents.

That’s at least how we see it.

We’re Autonomous, a forward-thinking creative house dedicated to enhancing the spaces and practices around work. Mash together a design firm with a tech startup and throw in a furniture company with a sizable hint of computer engineering, and you’ll get something that mirrors Autonomous.

All that really matters and what you primarily need to know is that we’re the people who love work as much as you do and particularly find the way we do it fascinating. The tools we use and the places where we make it happen are almost as special as the work itself.

Almost all of us do some kind of work, there’s so much variety within that. Beyond professional differences, let’s talk about stylistic differences. There are those with clean desks and those who seem to find comfort with a messy one. There are desks rich with personalized decorations, pictures and plants, and spartan desks with no trace of the user.

There are lots of ways to work. Show us yours.

And don’t forget to tag your friends! We’re looking for beautiful spaces and cool images, but a little social media buzz gives your entry an edge.
