Portsmouth-based Student Documentary ‘Offstage’ wins award at Melbourne Webfest

Offstage is a documentary of four 15-minute episodes that follow theatre students from the University of Portsmouth, as they develop a creative theatre production. Each act dives deep into topics such as ‘love’ and ‘death’, both in the actor’s lives and in the stage show.

On Christmas day it was announced that the show officially won the ‘best student series’ award at Melbourne Webfest. This event is an accredited film festival for the best visual media worldwide, so writer and producer Darek Kosinski found it “an honor even to be nominated”. Additionally, he shares his thoughts on the struggles that arose while working on the unforeseeable aspects of the show and speaks of dreams for a second season.
