Witches, Wizzards and Lockdowns: The Pagan Approach To The New Normal

The third national lockdown has provided many challenges for everyone, none more so than for the UK’s pagan population.

For such a community centric faith, the inability to meet in person to practice rituals and be together threatens to bring the pagan community to its knees, however via the hasty adaption of online mediums such as discord, and by the actions of groups like the Portsmouth Pagan and Spiritual Society, the community has found a way to thrive under the pressure of a third national lockdown.

“In the past year, paganism has gone online” says Lilly, a student at Portsmouth University and an avid pagan practitioner, “We host all of our talks online, which is fantastic, you can sit in your bedroom and still host a presentation for 10–20 minutes.”

Via the adaption of technology, the UK’s pagan community will survive.
