Earlier this week, Engadget revealed images of what was thought to be the iPhone 4G. We held off on running the story until confirmation was made because we weren’t really sure we believed it. However, Gizmodo got their hands on the new iPhone and was able to confirm that it is indeed the real deal. While the blog was not able to get the phone up and running, they were told it was running iPhone OS 4.0. The new iPhone was also recognized when plugged into iTunes.

The physical differences between the iPhone 3GS and the new 4G are big. The back of the iPhone is now a glass or ceramic material that really changes the look of the phone. The casing is metallic with a new feel for the keys. The new iPhone has a front-facing camera, a better back-facing camera, and is thinner and a bit heavier than the 3GS. Check out some more pictures after the jump.

We will post more details as we get them.
