Google announced its next version of the Android platform today at its developer conference. The new version of Android is called Ice Cream Sandwich, which should come as no surprise as we reported that last week. Ice Cream Sandwich brings a host of new features, combining both Honeycomb 3.0 and Gingerbread 2.3 to make one OS that runs everywhere. This new update will bring along an updated UI, new launcher, new multitasking, richer widgets, and more. It also brings a new feature called Virtual Camera operator that will recognize who is speaking during a video call and focuses in on that person. Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to be launched in the 4th quarter of 2011.
