iPhone 4 coming to Verizon on February 10
It has been long awaited. Rumors have been surfacing for years. It is finally here, the Verizon iPhone. Today Verizon held a press conference in New York City to announce the availability of the iPhone 4 on its network. Current Verizon customers will be able to pre-order to iPhone on February 3rd and the phone will launch on February 10th. The Verizon iPhone 4 will run on Verizon’s 3G network and lacks the 4G LTE capability that you may have heard Verizon bragging about during the Consumer Electronic Show last week.
The Verizon iPhone will be available in the same sizes as the AT&T version with the same device pricing. The 16GB iPhone 4 will be $199 on contract, the 32GB one will be $299 on contract. While most of the features are identical to its GSM cousin, the CDMA iPhone will have a mobile hotspot built in that will allow up to five devices to be connected to the device. Additionally, the iPhone 4 on the Verizon network has a new antenna design to fix those pesky antenna problems, often known as antennagate.
Verizon has made a big deal about how it has prepared its network for the iPhone launch and has tested its capabilities. The company is confident that it will perform well even with all of the added stress. While Verizon’s data network is not as fast as AT&T’s, it will likely be more stable.
During the questions and answers part of the announcement, the company said that the CDMA iPhone deal is not exclusive to Verizon. This means that the CDMA iPhone can potentially drop on other CDMA carriers like Sprint.
