Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY coming to Verizon; pre-orders start on May 19, hits stores May 26

It was no secret that the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY was coming to Verizon. The company made it official today by announcing the phone via a press release and giving release dates. The Xperia PLAY will be available for pre-order starting this Thursday, May 19, at www.VerizonWireless.com. It will finally be released in stores beginning on May 26. The phone will cost $199.99 with a two-year customer agreement.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and come pre-loaded with Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, and Tetris.This phone is meant to be a gaming phone, looking similar to the PSP with a directional keypad, dual analog touch joystick, two shoulder buttons, and four iconic Playstation symbol keys.

The Xperia PLAY also has some impressive internals that will make playing games a great experience. It comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon II processor, A 4-inch multi-touch display, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA front-facing camera, and Adobe Flash support.
