Verizon and AT&T blocking tethering apps from Android Market; we have a workaround

So much for Android being an open platform. Verizon and AT&T have blocked access to popular tethering apps in the Android Market. Carriers are getting serious about paying for tethering and understandably want to crack down on data hogs. However, Verizon and AT&T are the only ones who have gone this far. Sprint and T-Mobile haven’t yet blocked the popular tethering apps from being installed on their phones.

Now, just because Verizon and AT&T are blocking the apps, that doesn’t mean you can’t get them. All you need to do is turn your Android phone into Airplane mode and turn on Wi-Fi. Then just open up the Android Market and download that taboo tethering app.
