We live in a world filled with lots of information and content. It’s all becoming extremely accessible to us through our smartphones. But it’s the stories we share that have the most impact. That’s because stories connect us through our emotions and feelings.

A smartphone camera is one of the most, if not the most, accessible tool we have to share stories with the push of a button that captures a moment. It’s with the same device that we share what we’ve captured. No need to transfer it to a computer.

Listen to the SBP Podcast Mobile Filmmaking episode 161 with Ant Pruitt in your own app.

“If you can go back and look at those old images and feel something, you’re doing right. You’re doing okay.” Ant Pruitt, SBP Podcast Mobile Filmmaking

Ant Pruitt is my guest this week for the SBP Podcast Mobile Filmmaking in episode 161. Listen to our inspiring and very informative discussion as we go deep into the art of photography and storytelling.

You can listen to episode 161 in your app, or online, or simply download the MP3 file to listen anytime, anywhere.

Ant is a professional photographer and digital artist. I’ve had the pleasure to have him as a guest on our podcast several times.

It’s been an honor for our International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego to include Ant Pruitt on our Judging Panel for the short film competition. Something, he’s graced us with for several years now, and has agreed to do it again for our 2024 edition of the film festival.

Ant is a host of This Week In Google (TWIG) which is part of the most popular and perhaps the longest running tech podcast network, TWIT.TV.

I’ve watched Ant share videos where he shares how to use Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve. DaVinci Resolve is a feature rich loaded video editing software. The software is free and is very popular with filmmakers due to features that go beyond video editing on a timeline. They include color grading, motion graphics, and audio.

Blackmagic Design manufactures high-end cameras and their Pocket Cinema Camera is probably one of the most popular indie filmmaking cameras on the market.

So when the company released their new Blackmagic Camera app for iPhones last month, the first person I wanted to reach out to was my friend Ant Pruitt. His perspective is highly valuable for me.

Ant and I discuss the probable strategy of the company giving away their new feature rich camera app for iPhone users, and their editing software, both free. I can do no justice in writing it, so listen to episode 161 to hear Ant discuss it in detail. It’s fascinating!

In the episode, Ant does what many of my guests do and opens up to share his in-depth perspective on storytelling through photography and the art of it all. We do discuss a little bit about AI. But not too much, since the focus of this episode was not AI.

However, there is no getting away from the influence AI has in almost every aspect of our existence. Though I bring up one aspect which Ant said, doesn’t receive enough attention by the media.

Ant Pruitt is one of my favorite repeat guests on the SBP Podcast Mobile Filmmaking. His expert perspective on the topics we think about as content creators, photographers, filmmakers, video producers, artists and tech enthusiasts are always welcome, and an honor to share with our listeners.

Take a look at Ant’s incredible art gallery from his photographs. They are available for print, including wall art.
