His film, A Boy’s Best Friend made it into the Rookie Award category in San Diego’s International Mobile Film Festival taking place April 30-May 1.

Watch the film and be a part of the pioneer International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego, California April 29-May 1. All films are shot with smartphone cameras.

In this episode of our podcast, you’ll hear Quinn’s passion for filmmaking through the energy in his voice. He believes filmmaking should be taught in every school as part of the standard curriculum, because he is witness to how it benefits learning, and social and cognitive development for young people.

The film’s protagonist in the story is Cooper Friedman, his younger brother. Fortunately for Quinn, his brother is a professional actor as well, and has a lot of experience in front of a camera.

The film’s synopsis: A boy tries to find adventure in his cabin during quarantine, but doesn’t realize he has the best adventures right next to him.

Quinn’s eight year old sister, Madison helped during production with lighting. The film features their family pet, Nugget.

Within three days, he turned a story into a film and created an aesthetically cinematic film with a heartwarming story. His parents also played a small role in the film. Quinn and his entire family plan to attend the festival, it’s pretty much confirmed.

Listen to Quinn share details about what he used to make his film look really good. Quinn was really impressed by a source for music he purchased that allowed him to manipulate each instrument in the music track separately, in order to raise the emotional impact of the visuals and the story in his film.

Quinn leads the conversation into how the educational system could benefit students by allowing more filmmaking into their courses. We discuss those benefits in detail together. We also talk about how mobile filmmaking can help with bullying in schools.

It was fascinating to talk with Quinn! Inspiring to listen to his energetic and passionate beliefs about how much he believes in the power of mobile filmmaking and storytelling, as a young filmmaker in his teens.

Quinn Friedman is 17 years-old and an aspiring filmmaker.

He’s looking forward to meeting the filmmakers attending the festival and hopes to develop relationships which will help him continue his filmmaking career. His dream is to be a film director and his ambition is evident. He’s very inspiring.
