Last week, our very own Elkan Roelen, CEO and Thomas Modeneis, CTO represented Smilo during the 2019 CES convention in Las Vegas where they presented our decentralized blockchain platform and our private smart contracts that can power GDPR compliant decentralized applications (Dapps) in a privacy based digital identity solution.

CES, being the world’s largest and renowned tech event with over 200.000 visitors and over 5.000 stands and many technology scouts from all of the blue-chip brands from around the globe, proved to be a perfect location to attract the right audience to our booth at the Holland Tech Square.

Smilo was carefully selected by Startup Delta, a Dutch government supported incubator and ambassador of Dutch startups, being presided by his majesty Prince Constantijn of Oranje, to represent the Netherlands in the blockchain territory being recognized as one of the innovative frontrunners within the Dutch ecosystem. Besides us there were also 49 other Dutch startups present in the various areas of innovation such as smart mobility, AR/VR, Robotics & Drones, Digital Health, Ecommerce, Smart Home, IoT, Sports Tech and AI.

Together with our collaboration partners of 20Face, an advanced facial recognition tool, the Smilo team had developed especially for the CES, a realtime demo to enroll visitors at our stands into what we call a private vault. This private vault connects the vectors of your face to any data you would like to have connect to it, stored fully secure onto your own private smart contract, keeping full control over your data with no possible unwanted access by any third party. This powerful tool, addressing the anxiety of today’s society in the field of privacy protection of individual data compliance as stated in the GDPR, will be launched to the public shortly after the launch of Smilo Platform’s mainnet at the end of March 2019.

Apart from this particular product, we have also demonstrated the speed capabilities of our decentralized blockchain platform through our live performance tests, stating an average of 3K+ TXPS, as well as the presenting the Smilo network protocol which allows for optimal scalability and security through our network of networks system.

In the four days we were at the CES, we have received inquiries from over 50 prospective collaboration partners from around the globe, interested to explore possible use cases on our platform, which made this a very intense, valuable and interesting trip to Las Vegas. Even to such an extent that Thomas and Elkan have not even been able to spend a dime in one of the many casino’s. Perhaps next year as we will be back there, for sure.

We would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the guidance and support from the incredible teams of Startup Delta, Handelsroute.nl and Novel-T who were there every step of the way, which is exemplary to how innovative startups in The Netherlands are being guided to succeed in their international ambitions.
