Queen of Swords — Smith’s Tarot

Widowhood, sadness, and embarrassment.

--

Queen of Swords — by author.

Like the Ten of Swords — the Queen of Swords represents great loss. It displays a familiarity with sorrow. Although she holds a sword, it is not an indication of power. Look at how it rests upon the throne.

Additional meanings: absence, sterility, mourning, privation, separation, defending one’s territory in preparation of something that shouldn’t be exposed yet.

Affirm: Be Still, Be Quiet. I am in Control. You must obey me. You are subject to my command. You cannot intrude where you do not belong.

Illustration and design by author. Page size: 8.5 x 11". Canvas size: 120mm x 70mm on Southworth archive-quality paper. Inked with PandaFly precision microline pens. Sketched with Blackwing pencils. Shaded with a blending stump. The process before scanning is entirely analog.

This is in response to the endless demands of the unconscious mind. The swords in Tarot directly relate to the intellect. Sometimes uncontrolled thought needs to be put in check. This affirmation does it swiftly. It’s best done while meditating on this card.
