The stunning scenery and fantastic outdoor recreation opportunities in the Smokies are only part of the adventures that await you here. Besides camping, fishing, water sports, biking, hiking…the list goes on, be sure to visit some of the area’s charming small towns. You can get an idea of what’s in store (no pun intended, because there are great shops!) when you discover the new Blue Ridge Heritage Trail sites in the Smokies.

For example, in Waynesville, stop at the Trail sign on Main Street and learn about the colorful Haywood County Quilt Trail, or visit the nearby Museum of NC Handicrafts. In Franklin, you’ll discover a rich gem and mineral heritage and a lovely greenway along the Little Tennessee River. Wayside signs at the Trail sites tell their stories, and QR codes will take you to the Trail website. Pick up a map brochure at area visitor centers to help you find your way to these and other Heritage Trail sites in the Smokies. A program of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership.
