For some workers like Denica Phillips, this pandemic has affected not only her business, but also her personal life.

As a local hair stylist, Phillips has been giving a hair experience that she calls, “Rare Hair” for over 20 years. This is the first time her business has been hit this hard, but she is determined to make make ends meet for the sake of her family.

“I miss making my clients beautiful,” said Phillips. “ I know my family needs me too.”

While many workers are like Phillips are out of work, students around the country are struggling to adjust to life online.

Students like Bailye Phillips have had to adapt and adjust to the circumstances of the world.

Dallas Independent School District, like others around the country, cancelled the remainder of school operations in late March due to the virus. Phillips is among the millions of children who’s learning experience has been impacted by this virus.

“ It’s just been different,” said Phillips.

For the next few weeks, both Denica and Bailye’s will continue to adjust to their new normal. However, Texas Governor Greg Abbott plans to open up the state slowly through the month of May.
