The procedure is pretty simple but there’s quite a bit to be done.

The initial details required for the applications are as follows:

  • All transcripts from your previous academic qualification.
  • Statement of purpose/Essay.
  • Letters of recommendations (usually 2–3).
  • English proficiency examination marks (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE). Also, for undergrads in US you would need a SAT score.
  • For MBA, GRE (for US) or GMAT (for top UK colleges).
  • Application for US is done through CommonApp and for UK through UCAS with application fee. Some applications need to be done independently and directly to the universsity of choice.

Other requirements are:

  • Passport
  • Visa (Identity proof, address proof, bank statement etc.).
  • Statement of educational loan, if availed.
  • Medical insurance for the duration of the course (whether from India or the country you’re going to).

And that’s about it. But some procedures may be a little tricky. To avoid any unnecessary complications or mistakes (especially with the SOP, which is quite important during the selection procedure, and Visa, a mistake in which could make you liable to disbarment from the country for a period of time), I suggest you take some professional help if you aren’t absolutely sure of doing it by yourself.

All the best for the future. Cheers.
