When the WHO declared Covid-19 as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, shops began closing down and people emptied streets.

While the majority quarantined in their homes, a group of artists took to a boarded-up Sixth Street to paint a different picture.

A tribute to the life we knew

March in Austin is known for its rowdy crowds. The annual SXSW brought people together from around the world. This year, the streets were quiet, but the desire to gather was still evident.

Love thy neighbor

Artists had one resounding message: love thy neighbor. As morale across the world suffered, we prioritized checking in on those who we loved.

Stay home, stay safe

People stayed 6 feet apart. Zoom became a household staple. Air hugs boomed in popularity. We social-distanced to save the world.

The power of hope in overcoming

The Austin community remained hopeful for a better tomorrow. Today, many of us look forward to gathering once again.
