Among the world’s finest ocean drives is this 100 mile stretch from Aireys Inlet to Port Campbell, Victoria. These photos were all taken within five miles of the small town of Aireys Inlet, where I have lived for the past 40 years.

The first Australians mined ochre in this spot for thousands of years as established by the depth of the shell middens, which can be several meters deep along the cliff top. Cockle shells are among the most common shells found in these middens . Photo by DWC.
