Emptying My Bucket in Egypt

My Bucket List, that is

--

Life did not go well for me in the first half of 2024, but I can’t complain. After six months of treatment and recuperation, I was declared cancer-free. For 83 years, I led a healthy, happy life, so a few semesters of obsolescence was nothing to complain about.

I woke up one morning ready to celebrate — and travel. Egypt was on my list, but it was a little difficult for my wife and me, two octogenarians, to reach. The solution (not my favorite way to travel) was a cruise.

So we arrived by plane and ship to Alexandria, Egypt, and by motor coach across the desert to Giza. Although a humanist and skeptic, my motto is “When god gives you a photo, you have to take it.” Photography is my passion!

I could have shared dozens of photos of camels and millennial piles of stone, but my interest is photos of people, and god gave me many. You get the pyramids in the photo above, but what fascinated me were the people atop the desert dunes, presumably contemplating the 4,500-old pyramids.
