Everyone enjoys a good farmers’ market. The sights, smells, and sounds of a busy market can be fascinating, even if you’re not a “foodie”.

And, if you want to visit one of the oldest farmers’ markets in these United States, you have to swing by Pike Place Market the next time you’re in Seattle.

First opening in 1907, Pike Place is called “the soul” of the city, featuring not only food vendors, but restaurants, craftspeople, florists, and shops offering products of all kinds.

And tourists, with cameras, like me.

The food is the star.

Food merchants sell their yummy goods everywhere you look as you stroll through the market.

I captured this image of a transaction at a colorful fruit stand. It was a dimly lit area, but I liked the shadows that were created as a result.

The gorgeous produce, so carefully and beautifully displayed, makes a vibrant diagonal through the frame.
