November days are often grey and sullen as the year runs to its end. The temperatures plummeted as the calendar moved to December, and mist became freezing fog.

This morning, Saturday, 2nd December, I stepped out into a wonderland of hoar frost covering everything and low raking light from a bright sun setting off rainbow sparkles.

The leaf above is on my Medlar tree, which pushed out new shoots in October. It was unseasonably warm at times here in the UK, but not so now, as temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing for a few days.
