Bear is my daughter’s dog…she’s a funny critter with a thick body and stubby legs that she tries to minimize by jumping up constantly. She loves her peeps so much she pees a river every time she sees us.

I decided to pick a single random photo and just play with filters to appease alto’s latest demands, so I went with Bear — which was a bit of a mistake as she’s rather monochromatic. Nonetheless, it was a fun experiment. I began by removing all of the distractions in the background, cropping the bottom, and then painting over her leash by copying more of her fur and smudging the edges to blend it all.

A little ragged around some edges, but brings out the beauty of her eyes, don’t you think?

Artsy Fartsy Bear

Bear Times Three: Rippled, Crystalized, and Pixelated (my personal fave)

Bear Distorted

Spherized Bear, Twirled Bear, and Afraid I Can’t Remember but Still Kinda Cool Bear

Eat Your Heart Out, Andy Warhol

The first two are gradient mapping, while the last just plays with hues and saturation; what would Warhol have done with Photoshop?

Saving the Best for Last…

This one said “Render Tree” — I thought it would break the pic into leafy shapes or something — not plop an actual tree on her face!

No animals were harmed in the making of these images.
