Since I was waylaid with shingles on my birthday earlier this month, there was no celebration. My friend Anita asked what I wanted when I felt better. I requested a day with her traveling around the rural areas of North Central Florida taking photos. The day after Thanksgiving she made my birthday wish come true.
We looked for abandoned structures, churches, graveyards, wildlife, and other interesting and unusual sights. We meandered down dirt roads, sometimes followed by a truck or car whose drivers weren’t too keen on strangers nosing around. No one bothered us although we were asked to leave one property by the grandson of the former owner. However, the man stood and talked with us for a least 20 minutes detailing the history of the area. His family, including 12 uncles, once owned and farmed 13,000 acres there. I had already taken several photos while trespassing before he arrived and he allowed me to take a few more from the roadway.
More road trip photos to come . . .
