Picture-Taking Tips for Your Phone
Framing Within the Frame
Here is a short HOW-TO piece for improving your photos!
These few tips will help you master the art of taking snapshots that:
* interest your friends,
* provide food for thought,
* please the eye
* create a sense of mystery,
* give context without distracting from the main subject.
How do you take a picture on your phone?
The usual simplistic formula would be: pull out the phone; swipe to the camera button, center the screen on the main view, choose the best outer limits for the frame; and then press the shutter button. Done!
These instructions are perhaps the correct finger movements, but they are very much the wrong way to think about the picture-taking process.
* The art of photography is framing a visual composition.
* Framing is composing; composing is telling a story.
