Merrickville–Wolford is a village in Eastern Ontario, Canada, located in Leeds and Grenville County. It spans both shores of the Rideau River, and is a 28 minute drive from the town of Kemptville. David and I live roughly mid-point (slightly closer to Kemptville), just off the highway that goes directly south to Ottawa, our nations capitol, and the city I grew up in.

The images in this piece were taken last Saturday when we spent the day in both Kemptville, where we shop for groceries, and Merrickville, a place that has seen a huge boom in the local economy mostly related to increased tourism, famous for a slew of new agey cafes and unique, one of a kind artisan stores.

The local spa in Kemptville.

Bridge over “Kemptville creek”.

Had an amazing lunch at The Yellow Canoe Cafe. Really interesting lemon & basil soup, and a rare roast beef and blue cheese sandwich with sprouts that I will definitely have again.

Intriguing looking antique shop, but the crusty woman with the rollers on her head (I guess that’s still a thing) lost her fake, glue on smile pretty fast when she overheard us talking about something that would have been cute for “the wedding”. You could almost feel the lemon squirting in her ass. That’s what you get for eavesdropping, I suppose. So I made sure to linger.

However, they did have an insanely cool giraffe. I can totally see this on our front lawn.
