I have two guinea pigs and two cats. This guinea pig, Mauricio, loves corn on the cob — the other guinea pig, Jolly, not so much.

Each night, as my husband cleans the piggy cages, I feed one guinea pig at a time on the sheet-covered sofa.

Our youngest cat, Sébastien, joins Mauricio at his dinner table, watching patiently while Mauricio eats the kernels off his small chunk of corn cob. When the cob is clean, Mauricio moves on to a carrot or an apple, and Sébastien takes possession of the corn cob and licks it until all the sweetness is gone.

Why? Because friends share.
