Shasta Daisies vs. The Sunny 16 Rule

While I’m still in a flower-shooting mood, here are some Shasta daisies, in the full mid-afternoon sun, from below. This point of view makes their petals just glow with light.

I used the oldtimer’s Sunny 16 rule to expose this. I manually set the shutter speed the same as the ISO — in this case to 250 — and the aperture to f:16. Perfectly exposed.

My lens is a short telephoto (150mm on 645 medium format) to compress the depth a bit and focus on just the flowers.
