With more than 3000 years of history, Metz will leave you shocked, albeit pleasantly. This beautiful city, in the Lorraine region of northeastern France, has quite a few surprises in store for visitors. The impressive architecture, rich cultural heritage and the overall positive vibe of the place help buoy up the feel-good factor to a considerable extent.

The city is home to a gamut of structures that have been designated as Monuments Historique, a heritage status given to public buildings in France owing to their architectural and historical significance. From the popular Cathédrale Saint-Étienne (Metz Cathedral) to the strikingly beautiful Le Temple Neuf (a protestant church) to Le quartier impérial (the Imperial Quarter), Metz has a lot to offer its guests.

Besides, the Canal de la Moselle is a lovely area to take a stroll. Walking around the Moselle River, enjoying its peaceful ambience, and making multiple uses of the camera was both relaxing and soothing.
