We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.
-Carl Sagan

The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is part of the World Heritage List. Its conservation is essential to tackle the global climate crisis of deforestation and the decline of global biodiversity.

The site is positioned on a mountain range not far from Mexico City, and every wintering season, it becomes home to several million monarch butterflies that migrate to its forests.

This experience is one of a kind, and it’s rare to observe. The pine and oak branches covered with millions of orange monarch butterflies illuminate warmth, and the observed silence among the biosphere brings joy to the heart.

My snapshots are devoted to all the activists who try to protect and preserve this natural phenomenon.
