It’s Spring Time! This month marks the beginning of arguably the most pleasant season in the Northern Hemisphere.

While technically it starts in the middle of March, it is now that spring has finally arrived in Germany. The month of April witnessed a sharp drop in the mercury, with some parts of the country witnessing heavy to very heavy snowfall.

However, we can expect consistency in the weather from now onwards. The heavy jackets have already made their way to the dry cleaners and will subsequently get some rest in the wardrobe, at least until December.

Among all the major cities in Germany, it is the Hanseatic City of Hamburg where spring not only ensures flowers in full bloom but also a major related celebration.

Osaka, Japan’s third-largest urban area, also happens to be one of Hamburg’s nine sister cities. To celebrate this long-standing relationship between these two major cities, the Japanese community in Hamburg has been hosting the annual Kirschblütenfest, or Cherry Blossom Festival, in every spring season…
