Toronto’s Junction is a neighborhood of extreme contrasts. Named for the multitude of railroad tracks that crisscross it, the historic Junction has experienced a few cycles of trendiness, decline, tawdriness and gentrification. Today the nannies of upwardly mobile executive couples pull plastic wagons loaded with toddlers past street people holding out tin cans. Custom furniture designers are located between dollar stores and pawn shops.

I offer you some images that caught my eye as I meandered through the area during the past few years.
