Tiergarten is a large park located more or less in mid-west Berlin. It was first set up in the 16th century as a hunting ground for the Elector of Brandenburg. Today, it is a green haven where people can temporarily hide from urban lives. People jog, have a picnic, drink beers at the bench, enjoy sunbath, and so on.
As a person that grew up in concrete jungles, I would consider Tiergarten a giant forest. Birds singing, sunlight penetrating through trees, leaves dancing to the wind — it is just so cozy and privileged walking within it (of course, on sunny days).
On the other hand, some of Berlin’s famous highlights are just sitting right at the fringes of Tiergarten; for example, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag building, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Bellevue Palace. Therefore, if the tourists want to have a break from noisy crowds, this is the right place to go.
