at www.SuPear.co, I discover the possibilities of Snapchat

Once you start adding friends you will notice that there is so much content that competes for your attention that it feels overwhelming.

In reverse, among the plethora of stories on Snapchat, your content competes for your audience’s attention.

How then will you make your friends want to come back and watch what you have created?

  1. For starters make it short and sweet. The optimal length of a story that has the best retention rate is between 30–90 seconds. There are exceptions of course. But unless your story is really engaging with its plot, don’t prolong it.
  2. Try to figure out how to bring anticipation to your story.
  3. Go for an unexpected ending. Try to avoid the obvious. If you surprise your audience once or twice they will long for more and come again.
  4. Try to touch emotions. There are many commercials that use this trick. They invoke positive feelings of happiness and joy, or make you cry. I am not saying that you have to make people cry but try to figure out a way to make them FEEL some sort of an emotion. Your retention rate will rise.
  5. Tailor your stories to the situation. If you’re a brand, carefully monitor what is going on on Social Media. Go to Twitter Trends (mobile app will actually show you the number of Tweets for that certain # ) and check if it’s something you could created a story about. ALSO: you should keep an eye on what’s happening in Social Media in general. You don’t want to create a hilarious story when everybody talks about that horrifying tragedy that has just happened.
  6. People like funny. If you can make someone laugh, you have won.
  7. Be careful with funny so that it doesn’t become ridiculous.
  8. Try to figure out what it is that would make your audience feel connected to the story. What is it that your brand represents that speaks to your audience? How can you make your audience feel some sort of an ownership?
  9. CTA — Call To Action . Make people respond to you. Ask them about a solution to a riddle in your story. Ask them for a funny ways to use your product. Be adventurous
