Yesterday, reps from all the major Tech startup hubs in PH (Olotusquare, Ken Saro Wiva Innovation Hub, Rudigo, Yelocode, Bubbles, Strategic Hub, ectal) were gathered together in one room for 24 hours to compete in a Tech Hackathon to build a platform that will improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

Asides building a platform to ease business, the aim of the hackathon was also to publicize tech in the Niger Delta and encourage youths in the region to go into it as one of the thriving industries in society rather than investing all their hopes in crude oil.

In 24 hours we developed a solution called “BusinessNow”. “Businessnow” Is an online platform that automates and eliminate the role of humans in the registration and starting of a new business.

Being that registering a business name in Nigeria is among the first procedures to starting a business and because of the regular difficulty encountered in doing this, most prospective business people end up discouraged.

we decided that it was better to build our solution to solve this problem since it was most common. Although the government has been able to reduce the stress in the business name registration process as compared to some few years back, however it’s not enough since many businesses in the country are not registered with the CAC.

In the 24 hours we were at the hackathon with other tech hubs in Port-harcourt, we were able to build;

=> A Mobile App which will help users track their name registration process

=> A web application where all the name search and registration processes will be done.

we added some extra features like a logo and website creator system to our web application. with this, every business that is registered using our software gets a logo and website after the registration process is complete.

we added this feature to encourage small business owners in gaining an online presence for their business.

Finally, the hackathon offered us an opportunity to test our skill within a short time.

we thank the organisers of the hackathon for putting up a wonderful event. and to our supporters and the other tech hubs in port-harcourt we equally say a big thank you to them.
