Costco Addict
Sadly, I was whisked from Germany before the new Costco opened near Paris.
Luckily, there is a Costco Warehouse right in Wheaton, MD about fifteen minutes from our interim home at Navy Lodge Bethesda.
Dollars to donuts some of you are surprised that of all the exciting things to do in Europe that I didn’t have a chance to experience Costco in Villebon-sur-Yvette, France is on my missed it regrets list along with Berlin and Prague.
First, after a few years living over-sees as an expat or a military dependent you think about everyday American stuff differently. On vacation people search out the new and exquisite but living in Japan or Germany bulk packages of yogurt and other Costco staple items are exquisite and unique. Part of the fun living oversees becomes seeing just how many different items McDonald’s sells that would never happen in the US.
Second, I just love Costco.
Traveling across America and living in Japan I’ve been to more Costco’s than my family can count. The high calorie hot dogs make me happy and well priced gas is great excuse to use for vacation stops where we may as well pick up a pallet of road snacks.
Everyday we do something. It’s the best way to deal with the challenges of life. Today, flooding and alert worthy rain tried to keep up hold up in the hotel room but neither rain nor snow shall harsh my Costco vibe.
I may have missed the grand-opening of Costco in France so being a Costco customer on three continents will have to wait but anything can be an adventure if you let it.
