Into the Fourth Year

Hello, Snipette readers!

This is the fifteenth time we’ve written that opening line, and it never gets old. Our first ever piece from three years ago had a grand total of ten views and four claps, and, to us, that was blinding success. Today, we regularly clock in hundreds upon hundreds of views per article, and nearly half of all our pieces get featured. Our metric of “success” has certainly shifted, and we hope it continues to do so!

Over the last year, in particular, our publication has grown leaps and bounds behind the scenes. We’ve had pieces from over a dozen new authors, and built up a roster of “core” authors who write for us regularly. In fact, Badri and Manasa have been proper editors, without writing a word, for eight months now.

We’ve even gained another editor! Nia Chari, a friend of both founding editors, has come aboard as Assistant Editor. She’s already been doing some work behind the scenes, so if you’re a regular author, you may have already worked with her. Or will be, in the near future.

Analog

This month, we’re proud to launch Snipette Analog: a print edition with 80+ pages of various pieces from our online magazine, and a little more added in. It’ll be out every quarter and available in both black and white, as well as colour editions. To celebrate our anniversary, we’re even offering a discount: sign up today and get the next issue for $9 only!

As a long-term plan, we hope to raise some funds to pay back our authors, who’ve been working free till now, as well as upgrade our website, perhaps hire new people, and generally keep the wheels spinning. To this end, we’re launching a Membership plan: if you’ve been enjoying Snipette, here’s your chance to start supporting us!

Our Membership perks currently include only a digital or print copy of Analog, but we’re working to add more features like mobile wallpapers, direct interaction with authors and more! You can see more details on our subscriptions page, as well as free PDF preview of our first issue.

Social Media

We’re also opening up a social media intern position. Candidates should have a strong grasp of Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and simple marketing strategies. A familiarity of Snipette and its work would be preferred. They will work with us to plan and post about our website and content. About 4–6 hours of work per week can be expected. The position is currently unpaid; this may change in future, reliant upon how our Membership plan works out.

That rounds it up for this quarter’s update. We hope you’re all home and staying safe. Rest assured that we’re doing the same, even as we continue bringing out a Snipette post every weekend!

Cheers,
Manasa and Badri
