We absolutely love Microsoft Excel at Snipply, and we’re definitely not the only ones. Microsoft Excel is one of the most used software applications of all time, and the most used spreadsheet editor of all time, with over 30 million active users worldwide. Excel is both easy to pick up and difficult to master — and while it can seem daunting to learn new skills there are a ton of free resources available to help you become an Excel master.

Let’s take a look through the best Excel resources you can start using today.

Excel Easy

Excel Easy touts itself as the number one Excel tutorial online. For a complete noob this is a great start, because it begins with a complete intro to what Excel is at its core, and runs through the jargon that other tutorials might start with. While it starts off with all of the basics, if interested in getting more advanced down the road it will continue to walk through more complicated functions like lookups, arrays, and data analysis.

Straight From Microsoft

Microsoft’s support center is actually a good place to start as well. They feature a three-part video series that covers Excel essentials. It doesn’t stop there as they have a searchable index of resources available to help everyone from beginners to pros.

GCF

GCF is a free online learning repository for a ton of different software packages and skills. Their excel section is a great place to learn the basics of Excel from cells, sheets, data, formulas, and functions. It all ends with a quiz to test your information retention and is overall just a good place to check out if learning new software and building new skill sets.

Guru99

Self-described as “ Here you learn by practice. We make tons of efforts to take boredom out of learning and make education a fun experience.” Guru99 expands to way more than Excel as it has a pretty overwhelming amount of different topics, languages, and software they cover.

Their Excel section is great with niche and interesting topics that you won’t find in some of the other tutorial sites. Add in that everything is free and done in a visually appealing way and you get a great resource to keep coming back to.

Chandoo

Chandoo is a resource dedicated to Excel & Power BI. They cover the raw basics really well, and if you find yourself slightly more advanced or progressing quickly they have great interactive tutorials for more advanced Excel functionality. Additionally, one to two times a week they produce some creative and productive ways to use Excel. Overall, Chandoo is a great resource and something to keep coming back to.

ExcelFunctions.Net

This is an awesome resource for everyone from beginners to pros. While the Basic Excel page has great walkthroughs for noobs, the rest of the site is full of useful tutorials and makes it easier finding the right function you are looking for. If in the middle of working on something and stuck, this is a great place to turn to in order to get over the hump.

Contextures

Contextures states that “You’ll find everything you need to become an Excel Master, here on the Contextures website. Whether you like to learn by reading, watching or doing, we’ve got something for you — Excel tips, step-by-step lessons, sample files and videos.”

They have a ton of content, and all of it is excellently done. I definitely recommend giving this site a look through, especially if you are more intermediate in skills. They also have a blog to follow to keep developing your skills.

Excel Hero

Excel Hero is an awesome resource for beginners, and an even better for those who are more advanced. The Excel Hero Blog contains hundreds of hours of interesting and intermediate-to-advanced Excel information and the site has almost one hundred freely downloadable workbooks. This resource should be on everyone’s list of top places to improve your Excel skills.

Excel Jet

It is pretty easy to recommend Excel Jet to anyone. If looking for an excel shortcut, this repository will have it. Who doesn’t like saving time? Skip the mouse clicks with these invaluable shortcuts.

If you loved the list make sure to follow our blog, as we’ll be adding tons of resources and commentary over the next few weeks on everything from excel tips and tricks to growth hacks and automation.
