This year has been an exciting one for Snips! This week our teams travelling to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and Embedded World in Nuremberg will be sharing a number of important updates with our clients and partners.

Snips provides manufacturers the ability to offer their customers innovative, easy-to-use voice services and applications that guarantee several key advantages: low latency, GDPR compliance, control of brand identity and data, and above all, the ability to run completely offline. Companies can quickly prototype a voice assistant using our DIY web console. The console includes the ability to combine pre-built capabilities available via a marketplace with custom skills created by the developer. Since 2013, we’ve been working towards embedding an AI in every device to make technology disappear. In 2017, we launched our voice platform in English and French. Today, we are announcing three more important milestones that will benefit both OEMs and developers.

New Strategic Collaboration with NXP, the Embedded Semiconductor Leader

This collaborations with NXP provides companies with turnkey voice recognition hardware & software solutions that easily integrate into large and small edge computing devices. We will be working together to enable seamless integration of specialized and high performing voice assistants and NXP applications processors. The relationship will extend to and benefit a wide span of vertical markets such as smart buildings, home entertainment, robotics, automotive, and the industrial sector.

At Snips we are convinced that voice is the future of human-to-machine interactions. And since language is a universal interface that can be used to express anything, the partnership with NXP helps Snips democratize access to the world’s next leading interface — voice. It’s a proud moment for Snips’ robust production grade voice solutions to become part of the NXP solutions portfolio.

“We’re seeing projections that over 50 percent of all online search or interactions will be voice-based by 2020,” says Geoff Lees, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Microcontrollers at NXP. “Our collaboration with Snips brings low latency, always-on voice assistance directly to our edge node solutions.”

We jointly demonstrated Snips’ embedded voice platform on the NXP i.MX 8M at the Embedded World conference in Nuremberg from February 27 through March 1 in Hall 4A, stand 4A-220 of the exhibition. The Movie Kiosk demo uses both voice and touch interfaces, which enrich each other for a smooth and intuitive user interface. The demo has been developed in conjunction with next-generation embedded interfaces pioneer, Crank Software.

Snips Voice Technology is Now Available in German

OEMs and developers will be able to add voice assistants to their products targeted at German speakers. Our vision at Snips is to ensure that AI, voice and privacy are never mutually exclusive. No other country stands for data protection more than Germany. So today we are thrilled to offer local and international manufacturers a robust production grade voice solution that guarantees data privacy, adapted for the German language.

Launch of In-Car Voice Assistant

Our solution enables a number of popular voice-activated use cases, including navigation, ETA-sharing with contacts, and in-car voice calls directly from the driver’s seat. The new solution is readily available for automotive infotainment systems manufacturers and integrators.

Visitors of the Embedded World conference will be able to test both our German language and automotive assistant demos at our booth in Hall 3A/3A-102 of the exhibition.

Bringing Snips voice assistant to cars

Built with proprietary AI technology, our platform runs on-device — independent of the cloud — which guarantees low latency, GDPR compliance, and control over brand identity and data. Additionally, our deep learning based models are optimized for performance and efficiency, running on devices as simple as a Raspberry Pi 3.

Many more exciting projects and launches are in the works this year. Stay tuned :)
