About: This one is close to my heart because a) it’s fantastic, b) it’s feature-rich, c) it’s free and doesn’t add any signatures. I’d say you can stop your search there but that would not be objective, so let’s go deeper into what it can do.
Unlimited Email Tracker was created by Snovio in 2018 and since then got about 11k users, 400+ five-star ratings, #1 Product of the Day and #4 Product of the Week on ProductHunt. Do I need to say more?

About: Mailtrack is probably the oldest and the most widely known email tracker. It was released in 2014 and has about 1,250,000 users. This allowed the company to monetize the service, meaning the only feature that’s not hidden in the free plan is email open tracking.
While the full version has a pretty impressive feature set, the free version can’t compete with most free email trackers.

About: Docsify is a little lesser known extension that actually offers a pretty decent feature set to those willing to pay for PRO and GROWTH versions. It’s got great reviews and offers CRM integrations (on the $29/month GROWTH plan). The only complaint I’ve heard from the person actually using this tool was the number of email notifications you receive as a result. Pricey, but overall a great tool.

Update: On March 7, 2019 Docsify CEO Max Makarenko announced via his Facebook that Docsify will be pausing their service for 2 months to work on technical issues concerning the service architecture. Docsify is expected to renew its service in May.

About: This tracker has all the usual email tracking features we’ve seen by now — open tracking, link click tracking, notifications, reminders etc., except for one notable feature — SMS notifications when the email is read. However cool all of this is, there’s a catch. A pretty eye-catching signature in your emails can’t be removed unless you upgrade.

About: Email Tracker is a very simple tool — you install it and you send an email. If you’re looking to find out if the email was opened for free — this is one of the few options that can do it label-free. However, this is the only data you see on the Free version — whether the email has been opened and how many times. To get a full report, location, track links or add more accounts, you will have to buy the PRO version for $48 a year.

About: At first glance, this seems like a great extension to invest in — it’s got a robust feature set and an easy UI. However lately, the extension has been getting a lot of bad reviews because of features not working or misbehaving for some users. We have also noticed a problem when using testing this tracker — there was no way to know whether the email was actually opened. We have tested it on 3 different accounts, but couldn’t find a solution. Therefore we can’t help but suggest you look into other options. Hopefully, the extension will be fixed soon.
