In sales, monitoring emails is no less important than writing them.

Tracking will help you find out in real time who was interested enough to open your email and click the link. Which means you’ll be able to identify which subject lines, CTAs, designs, and offers are the most attractive to you leads.

Tracking tool is one of the must-haves for every marketer or salesperson, which is why we at Snovio decided to create our own tracking tool that helps you keep your finger on the pulse, but also doesn’t hurt your wallet or reputation. How? To understand, let’s take a quick look at how email tracking works.

Email Tracking: Monitor lead activity

Email tracking was created to monitor the status of your outgoing emails. Every email message you send will be tracked and then displayed to you with additional data, like delivery, open and click-through status.

This real-time data will allow you to analyze just how well your emails are performing, meaning you’ll know whether to save this particular email copy as a template if the open and click-through rates are high or, perhaps, you’ll see that some changes have to be made to the subject line and the body if the message failed. The specificity of this data for each individual email is what makes email tracking so valuable to professionals in sales and marketing.

Email Tracker Extension

Email tracking services are nothing new. However, many of them still have a long way to go. Usually, email tracking extensions offer a free plan in exchange for some kind of logo placement in the email body. Which is where Snovio Email Tracker has an upper hand: we created our extension not for profit, but to improve our users’ lives.

Snovio Email Tracker is a completely free and perfectly designed email tracking extension for Gmail that shows you which emails have been opened by your addressees, including the number of opens and link clicks right in the Gmail interface, so you won’t need to deal with external windows to track the message.

Moreover, this extension comes with a set of other features:

  • No signature in your email;
  • Tracking of how many times an email has been opened;
  • Tracking of how many times a link has been clicked;
  • Push notifications in your browser when an email is opened or a link is clicked;
  • Inbuilds seamlessly into your Gmail interface;
  • Does not interfere with Boomerang, Mailtrack, Yesware, Streak, Bananatag or Hubspot Sales.

You can find Snovio Chrome extension on Chrome Web Store. Intuitive interface and elegant integration into Gmail service will make it irreplaceable in your professional tool set.

How to use Snovio Email Tracker

Our extension is easy to use and to install. Here we’ll briefly go through how you can install it and customize it to fit your needs.

1. Install Snovio Email Tracking extension

First things first, go to the Snovio Email Tracker page in Chrome Web Store. To install the extension in your browser, click Add to Chrome button and it will be automatically installed.

Refresh the page if you’re already on your Gmail account page.

If you’re not sure whether to install our extension, you can check the reviews in the Reviews tab and decide for yourself. Don’t forget to leave your feedback, either on why you decided to use this tool or not, so we can work on to improve it for you. If you do find a problem, don’t hesitate to leave us a note in the Support tab, and our team will get back to you with the answer in no time.

2. Choose your settings

This tracker extension can be customized according to your needs and preferences. If you have multiple email accounts, you can choose which ones you would like to enable tracking for. All your available email addresses will be listed under Enable tracking for line. You can also choose what actions you want to be notified about — when an email message is opened or when a link is clicked. You can enable or disable either of these options under Show notifications.

3. Enable tracking of your emails

You can choose to track individual email messages when you are composing a message. To do it, simply click on the bell icon, which is right beside the send button.

When the function is enabled the bell icon will turn purple. Just click on the icon again if you want to disable tracking for this individual message.

4. Get email statuses

After you’ve adjusted the settings, you will start receiving the chosen push notifications (Step 2).

Here’s how the tool looks in the Sent Mail of your Gmail account:

  • a purple check mark if the email was sent, but is not yet opened;
  • an open envelope if we tracked that a recipient opened the message;
  • an arrow if a person followed a link in the message.

Like we said, Snovio doesn’t add any signature, logo or trademark to your email messages.

Conclusion

Email tracking is one of the tools that every salesperson and marketer should have. Tracking individual messages is a hard job, but with Snovio Email Tracker we simplify this task to the max.

Personal communication with your business interest is important and you should always know how they reacted to your messages. This will allow you to work out a strategy and prepare a meaningful response.

This is even more vital if you are a salesperson or a business developer. As a salesperson, you want to know which emails get opened by your potential clients in order to convert them to sales. Meanwhile, business developers need to monitor potential investors and their interest in the product or service.
