The verse for today is from Subhāṣita-ratna-bhāṇḍāgāra, Sāmānya-nītiḥ:

atiparicayād avajñā santatagamanād anādaro bhavati |
malaye bhillapuraṅdhrī candanatarukāṣṭham indhanaṁ kurute ||

The First Part

Let’s translate the first part by words.

atiparicayād

Prefix ati could mean “over” or “beyond something”.
Word paricaya is a kind of “intimacy”, “fimiliarity”.
Word ending ād (which is a voiced āt) is a sign of ablative case. Thus it makes the word to mean the reason of something.
We could translate it as ”because of the excessive familiarity”.

avajñā

This word means disrespect or low opinion.

santatagamanād

This compound word consists of two:
santata (or saṃtata) means “continuous”
gamana according to dictionary is a “sexual intercourse with a woman”. Woo-hoo!

Word ending ād again refers to ablative, so in the end we have ”because of the continuous sexual intercourse”

anādaro

(which is anādara in a dictionary form) means ”indifference”.
Here it could mean indifference from one human to another.

bhavati

The last word is a verb meaning “exists” or “happens”.
It refers to both parts of the sentence so it is like:

1. Indifference happens because of continuous sexual intercourse.
2. Disrespect happens because of excessive familiarity.

The Second Part

malaye

malaya means the Malaya mountains as a geographical place.
Word ending e refers to the locative case, which makes the word mean ”In the Malaya mountains”

bhillapuraṅdhrī

This compound word consists of:
bhilla which refers to the wild mountain race “Bheels”. So these people suppose to be living in the Malaya mountains.
puraṅdhrī means a woman.

So the whole word is ”A woman of Bheels”. Okay.

candanatarukāṣṭham

Also a compound word:
candana is a sandal.
taru is a tree.
kāṣṭham is a part of the tree.

So it’s a part of the sandal tree, or ”log of sandal tree”

indhanaṁ

Word indhana is a ”fuel”
Ending m refers to accusative case, so this word would be an object of some action.

kurute

Simply means ”does”. This is our verb.

So putting the second part together:

Woman of Bheels in the Malaya mountains makes a fuel of sandal logs

Context Meaning

What we have for how is:

💕→ 👐🏻 Indifference happens because of continuous sexual intercourse.
👫→🖕🏻 Disrespect happens because of excessive familiarity.
👩🏻 → 🌳🔥 Woman of Bheels in the Malaya mountains makes a fuel of sandal logs.

Okay, we could have done this translated in more poetic way.

The second part here is giving an example of what has been stated in the first part.
Look: sandal trees are quite valuable, but the wild woman is not aware of that. She lives among that trees and thinks that the they are no value and could be used as a fuel. Because the rare trees are short way off and easily accessed, she became indifferent to them.

So, remember kids:

  • No excess familiarity
  • No continuous sexual intercourse
  • Love trees
Not a sandal trees and not a Malaya mountains
