Coins
Coins are synonymous with collecting. Popular with collectors for a variety of reasons — rarity, intrinsic value, associated history — a number of celebrities have coin collections of their own. Nicole Kidman is said to have an affinity for ancient Judean coins. James Earl Jones is also an avid coin collector, even narrating a coin based documentary called “Money: History in Your Hands.”
Superhero Memorabilia
Superheroes collections include comics, toys, home decor, clothing and much more. Nicholas Cage is a passionate comic book collector. In 2002 Cage sold 400 Golden Age issues for $1.68. He chose his stage name “Cage” after comic book legend Luke Cage and named his son Kal-el, Superman’s name on his home planet Krypton. Another collector of superhero memorabilia is Shaquille O’neal. Shaq’s collection focuses on Superman. Often seen wearing Superman t-shirts, Shaq customized his Cadillac with the Superman logo. This year, Reebok released an Superman shoe dedicated to Shaq.
Porcelain Dolls
Demi Moore built a literal dollhouse, to home more than 2,000 porcelain dolls. Of Demi Moore’s doll collection, former husband Ashton Kutcher said, ‘I think the dolls have souls. And they’re always looking at you — we have some in the bedroom and that makes things just weird.’
Barbie Dolls
Speaking of dolls, Johnny Depp has a surprising collection of his own. Depp has a vast collection of limited edition Barbie Dolls. A source close to Depp stated, “He owns dozens of limited edition Barbies. He’s also go dolls based on Beyoncé, the High School Musical cast, Elvis and even Donny Osmond.” The real question is, does he have a barbie doll of himself?
Star Trek Memorabilia
Mila Kunis, current wife of Ashton Kutcher, is a dedicated Star Trek collector. Her collection is focussed on figurines from the 1960s & 70s. Kunis is joined by Ben Stiller, another Trekkie. Stiller owns at least two pairs of original Spock ears, and has attended Hollywood Star Trek auctions.
Watches
Watches are a rich man’s game. Jay-Z is one of those rich men who has a lot of expensive watches. Most notably however is his Hublot Big Bang Watch, gifted to him by his wife Beyoncé and reported to be worth in excess of $5 million — this makes it the most expensive watch in the world. Other avid watch collectors are John Mayer and Charlie Sheen. John Mayer is a rolex enthusiasts and can be seen often posting his massive collection on instagram. Sheen has a number of watches and his collection has an estimated worth of and $5.6 million.
Sunglasses
Elton John admitted to owning over 250,000 pairs of sunglasses, and his collection continues to grow. He even has a separate walk in closet just to display all his shades. Elton John has kept every pair of his signature accessory since the 1970’s. He was deservingly named Britain’s Most Iconic Glasses Wearer.
