I’m Sorry to Say it, But You Don’t Truly Possess Any Rights

What does it mean to have rights?

Imagine a mouse placed in a maze. There is prepared food at one end. Performing a series of preset actions will lead the mouse directly to the prepared food, there may be some diversions and delays, but eventually, he’ll make it, to some amount of prepared food, as long as he keeps working the maze.

He could starve to death while working on the obstacles, that is a real possibility, but if he works hard enough—or smart enough—he should be able to get to the food without issue. Most other mice are able to make it there before they die.

No, none of them chose this maze.

Outside of the maze, the mouse could hunt for his own food. There’s plenty going on outside, but there’s no exit, besides he isn’t allowed out there anyway. The mouse can’t leave the maze to hunt for his own food, he just needs to complete the obstacle course.

If he tries to leave, he will be captured and placed back inside the maze. If he tries again to leave, he’ll be captured and punished. All the other mice support this and participate. They support the captors bringing the mouse back to the maze because they…
