Nothing has ever been this good

There’s something that I think needs to be addressed. Can we be honest with each other for a minute?

Our memory sucks.

You don’t have to feel bad, all of our memories suck. There’s the classic,“where’d I leave my keys?”, “oh, i was supposed to pick up the kids today?!”, and “of course I remember our anniversary, honey”. The ultimate example is when you’re typing up an email about a document you’ve been working on and then forget to attach that document! That’s how bad our memory is. At this point it should just be considered human nature.

The question then becomes, how can we improve our memory?

Better sleep at night and more exercise are considered some of the best and easiest options, according to Thorin Klosowki of Lifehacker. However, there is an alternative option that you can adopt — and that is video.

According to Mykityshy et al., the most effective way to improve memory retention is by watching a video and then practicing what it demonstrates. This is great news for any company! If you’re interested in improving the work quality of your employees, which I’m sure you are, you’ll want to use video as much as possible. You can set up a playlist of training videos for new employees and they can watch and learn how to do the job right. If they have any questions, they can re-watch the video or ask a colleague with more experience. The goal is to get everyone on the same page; you want to reduce misinformation and improve not only people’s memory, but also corporate cohesion and collaboration. You want smart employees that work well together; it’s time to make that more of a reality than ever before.
