At Soar camp, we’ve been getting a huge influx of new users uploading their drone photography to the platform. The jigsaw-pieces of the global super-map are starting to be filled in, and the quality of content on the platform is creating lots of new demand and sales. But what if you get through the upload process on www.soar.earth to find that your neat drone photo can’t find it’s home on the super-map?

Where is my location data? I’m sure there are no glaciers off the coast of West Africa!

Uh-oh, looks like the image’s EXIF and location metadata may have been stripped! Often during the editing process, metadata including the location info can be unintentionally removed. This depends on which editing software you have used and their default preferences. This is often the case in Adobe editing software like Lightroom, as many users would actually prefer to not share or store location data in their images..

Lightroom allows you to read and edit significant amounts of information contained within your photos.

Or perhaps you don’t use Lightroom and are just looking for the quickest way to get your images looking great for Soar? If so, then head to the bottom of the page for info on an amazing one-click drone photo editing tool from Skylum!

Here’s an easy step to include in your Lightroom workflow, so that you can be sure your metadata is being retained fully intact. Once you have finished your normal editing process and are ready to export your images for uploading to Soar, click Export within Lightroom to open the dialog box below.

Lightroom’s Export Dialog-box.

There is a drop-down section within the Export window labelled ‘Metadata’. Click on this drop-down and ensure to uncheck the highlighted box that says, ‘Remove Location Info’. That’s it! Super easy. Now you can upload to Soar with no worries about the location accuracy of your drone images, as they are contained within your image itself!

Voila! Mr. Zoomy thanks you for your wonderful contribution to Soar 😍

Don’t want to go through the process of editing each and every drone photo you take in Lightroom? We tend to agree that sometimes quantity can take precedence over quality when building a super-map… But how about having both with a single click? Powered by AI and advanced algorithms, AirMagic improves your aerial photos automatically. Simply drag & drop all your pictures to the app (RAW or JPEG), and let technology do the work. We are certain that AirMagic will not strip your location data either.

We have a special discount code for AirMagic software available to Soar users. If you’ve registered and uploaded photos on Soar reach out to us on socials (links below) and we’ll hit you with a code for 15% off!

I hope this article helps you with uploading your drone images to help create the world’s first decentralized global super-map on Soar! #ILoveToSoar
