It’s been a massive few months for Soar but now the TGE is over we haven’t been sitting on our laurels. The developers are pleased to announce a major update for the Soar platform, the last before we leave Test-net and begin transacting on the Main-net (March 1st).

The focus of this release is to overcome the biggest problem that all Blockchain applications suffer from; mass user adoption.

Using a blockchain application is hard work. Users have to navigate a menagerie of new terminology and UI. There are wallets, gas, Metamask, transactions and hashes to deal with and Soar isn’t built for the 1% who are willing and able to go through these on-boarding pain points — it’s built for everyone.

This frustrating and complex user experience isn’t a surprise to us. We have had a plan in place from day one and today we are excited to show it off to the world.

Soar User Registration https://demo.soar.earth/

That’s it. A bog standard, 20 year old email and password registration system.

Now, I know what you are thinking. Why on earth would a developer be making a song and dance about this? Login and registration is web application 101.

Well, the best software system is one you that does it’s job without you even being aware it exists at all. We call this system SkySponsor.

SkySponsor allows us to completely abstract the blockchain from the end users. We keep all the advantages of the blockchain (immutability and a public ledger of the data’s providence) without any of the pain points, effectively opening up the platform for mass user adoption.

Behind the scenes, the content that a drone operator uploads goes into an approval queue which we sign and write into the blockchain on the users behalf. All the user needs to do is email registration and drag and drop their content to participate and start making money. This system is OAuth 2.0 compatible so when we have a chance to catch our breaths we will also add one click Google and Facebook logins.

In addition to SkySponsor we have also slipped in some quality of life improvements and bug fixes into this build:

  • Removes permanent status bar and replaces with Toast popups
  • Improves box select tool
  • Smoother browse listing load and adds masonry
  • Style improvements throughout
  • Wording improvements throughout
  • Major refactors to code base to ease future development
