*A few curated resources in English on Social and Behaviour Change (SBC). These resources complement our “Intro Guide to Social and Behaviour Change.” For versions in French, Portuguese and Spanish click here.

  1. Adaptable Pocket Guide on Community Engagement. UNICEF West and Central Africa Region. Multiple levels of community participation are presented, with ideas for avoiding tokenism and manipulation. See our Social Change Library for additional adaptable resources in multiple languages.
  2. Five page overview of Community Engagement [UNICEF Social and Behaviour Change program guidance, 2022 — See online version here]
  3. Role, Orientation and Process. Child Resilience Alliance — This section of the larger online Guide and Toolkit focuses on the art of facilitation. This except covers one of the key components of working with committed groups for community-led social change.
  4. Quality standards and indicators for community engagement. UNICEF — Developed through a multi-country, interagency consultation process, this 64-page tool includes guidance on concrete actions and indicators related to community engagement standards.
  5. Power mapping tool. From the Beautiful Trouble Toolkit. Many community engagement interventions fail to properly consider power relations. This 7-page resource outlines how to conduct a power dynamic analysis for community-led social change intervention.
