The Most dangerous cities in 2022
According to research conducted by Statista, which calculates the level of dangerousness of a city by relating to murder rates in each municipality released in May 2022, the study found out that the top 5 most dangerous cities are in South America, by which 4 cities are in Mexico, and 1 of them is in Venezuela.
Since 2014, the reputation of gang violence around the city has gone much more infamous, making it not as popular a destination as it used to be. Surprisingly, Tijuana, a central tourist hub in Mexico, tops the chart as the most dangerous city, with a homicide rate of 138 homicides per 100,000 population. Acapulco, a long-time tourist destination since the 1940s, gets 2nd place among the most dangerous cities. The homicidal rate of Acapulco is 110.5 homicides per 100,000 population.
Tijuana, on the other hand, is the most popular destination while maintaining the highest homicide rate. The 3rd place is the odd-one-out since Caracas is the only city in the top 5 from Venezuela. Caracas is the capital and largest city in Venezuela, but it horrifically brings a high homicide rate, as high as 99.98 per 100,000 population.
In 4th place is Ciudad Victoria back in Mexico. The city earns its position on the chart with a homicide rate of 86.01 homicides per 100,000 population. The 5th place is Ciudad Juarez. Ciudad Juarez makes its place with the homicide number almost as high as the 4th being at 85.56 homicides per 100,000 population.
As crime rates are as high as ever, every individual should stay vigilant and be careful wherever they go. Use the Social Bureau to lower the crime rates in your city!
