Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. ~ Buddha

Being Stubborn Can Be A Good Thing When You Look At It In The Right Lense

You know being stubborn comes in two different paths and here are the two explained:

Stubborn Definition #1: stubborn like a child is when acting immaturely or not doing the right thing: apologizing for a mistake they made

Stubborn Definition #2: being stubborn with holding onto whatever hope you have with achieving something which also comes with putting the right kind of effort, time, patience and more to succeed.

So I can say that I’ve had my fair share of both definitions and lately in the past 3 years: my recovery length (April 25, 2015 – present) with depression (and in the past year May 2017 – present) enough symptoms of PTSD but with no official diagnosis yet!

And on the note and the purpose of this post, I’m gonna share here on why I’ve chosen a topic like this!

Being stubborn, people can tell you millions of times especially when you are at the age in your life even wheee you are just starting your life after having graduated from high school and even after college/university; to be mature, responsible and independent! But not everyone is able to think long enough to have the thoughts of asking if we aren’t seeing things clearly. To ask questions and clarify to make sure you are understanding what they are explaining to you along with a story if they do include one.

And to also note:

Be mindful, listen mindful when communicating with them in conversation. Mindfulness in conversations means: listening mindfully without judgments or thoughts of any kind until the other person or anyone in the conversation has finished talked or having their say and if you don’t understand anything anyone said: ask questions so that you will have a clearer understanding and a clearer picture in your mind.

Just like 1 of 5 steps of removing/ending the stigma around mental health and mental illness:

  1. Language matters
  2. Be Kind
  3. Listen & Ask
  4. Educate yourself
  5. Talk About It
