What is Social Hackers Academy?
Social Hackers Academy is the first full-time coding school in Athens for refugees, migrants, and unemployed Greek people. Social Hackers Academy’s team is educating, integrating and finding a job for people who belong to social vulnerable groups. Graduates’ employability is the main goal that is achieved by delivering a comprehensive educational program in software engineering.
What does Social Kind do for Social Hackers Academy?
We help the school to become even more successful and reach more people. We highlight the real stories of the people from the organization, and use digital communication to build a society caring about vulnerable groups. Me and Viktorija find inspiration in stories of school’s students every day. Seeing them become a part of this success story is the best motivation. I can honestly say, there is no greater happiness than being able to make others happy.
Below I’ll provide some examples of recent works we have done for Social Hackers Academy. We’ve just begun to manage these social media accounts, and we are on the way of getting to know our audience now. After determining our strategy, we will make even more beautiful and inspiring projects. This is just the beginning! :)
#1 International Mother Language Day
One day, while working in the office, Viktorija spotted that on that day was International Mother Language Day.
After a 5-minute brainstorming session, this Instagram story idea came up. We realized that there are many international people among Social Hackers Academy students and team members.
It doesn’t matter which is your mother language, because we all smile in the same way. In conclusion, using videos for Instagram stories, we have shown the organization’s international environment and that people can also learn programming languages here.
#2 Testimonials of Social Hackers Academy People
We know that the impression of the brand derives from the people in it as much, if not more, as their mission and activities. For someone who is interested in becoming a teacher or volunteer in Social Hackers Academy, it is especially important to discover the experiences of other teachers there. If somebody is considering to join Social Hackers Academy as a student but is hesitant, seeing the examples of other students can be very encouraging to take the next step. That’s why we highlight experiences of students, teachers and other volunteers on our social media accounts. While doing this, we use Facebook and Instagram carousel photo sharing feature. So our followers can view the images by swiping.
#3 Inspirational Quotes
You might say that sharing quotes online is outdated. And you would be right, unless those phrases are highly linked to your organization’s cause and strongly represents brand’s values. The three main values of Social Hackers Academy are as follows: education, technology, and social impact. Therefore, in our content plan, we include customized designs for carefully selected quotes on these topics. It also helps Social Hackers Academy students, who follow their school on social media platforms, to keep the motivation and learn more about the experiences of successful people around the world.
#4 Meetup: Devs Alliance — Athens
Social Hackers Academy also has a Meetup group called “Devs Alliance”. Their aim is to create a hub where Social Hackers Academy students and other developers in Athens discuss and interact with potential future employers, colleagues and business partners. The group, which had 150 people subscribed in October, in 6 only months reached a number of 500 members.
This has been achieved through running a series of Web Development and Tech Industry oriented events and tailored talks by professionals in their fields. In this period, my colleague Viktorija organized 5 successful events for Social Hackers Academy. I witnessed how much effort she puts in coordinating all event operations and its marketing.
After making sure everything has run smoothly, the most rewarding part is to see how valuable the outputs of the event are for its attendees. It makes us happy seeing Social Hackers Academy students and other participants listen to experienced and successful professionals in tech, learning from their presentations and discussions afterward, as well as networking, all that to improve themselves and open the door to brighter prospects.
