Having tried Periscope for a while, here I bring some tips that may be useful to you when using Periscope for business purposes:

  1. Check you have good internet connection.
  2. Frame your broadcast in an aesthetic and lighted scenario.
  3. Use a device with high quality camera. Take into account that front cameras are usually of a poorer quality than back cameras.
  4. Don’t have too much background noise. Of course, if you are at a convention or on the street, this will be hard to achieve. In such cases, decide whether image or sound is more important in your broadcast, and place your phone in a way that best helps you achieve your purpose.
  5. Keep it moving. Don’t be static. People that watch you expect something to happen. Talk. Move. Sing. Dance. Whatever you want. But DO something because if not, people will bet bored and will leave the streaming.
  6. Interact as much as possible with your audience. That means, read what your viewers are commenting and comment on that.
  7. Speak clearly. Articulate as much as you can.
  8. Show who you are and what you do. People love knowing the ‘behing the scenes stuff’. Whether it be the real behind the scenes of a movie, TV series, network broadcasting, or a start-up or company, let the world (i.e. customers and potential customers) see how you work and what you do.
  9. Study your audience’s behaviour and see what is it they like. Take advantage of the information Periscope provides about your streamings. As soon as you stream, Periscope allows you to see how many people watched it, how long they spent watching it and how many hearts you were given.
  10. Try new things! Test different topics and formats to determine what’s suits your audience best.

BONUS: Ask people to follow you in order to build your audience. Remember that people that follow you will get a notification whenever you start broadcasting.

Happy Scoping!
